Custom square yard edible gardens

Customize your garden to what you eat, not what everyone grows. You can create a Salsa Garden, Fajita Garden, Soup Garden, Salad Garden, and so on. Nothing is more delicious than freshly picked food.

Square yard gardening is pretty nifty. Not only can you customize to suit your eating habits, you can do it in a small area.

It’s easy and fairly inexpensive if you repurpose pallets. Here’s a great example of a raised square yard garden. (It may not be exactly a yard, but, whatever.
The pallets are cut in half, turned on the side and connected together with “L” brackets. To avoid digging out weeds, line the bottom heavily with newspapers. Line the sides with landscape fabric if you like. Fill with gardening soil. It’s cheaper by the truckload if you’re purchasing.

Plant the tallest vegetables in the center and the shortest at the edges, going by size, fill in the middle. This helps all of the plants get sun.
